About us

The Central London Humanist Group is an independent group affiliated to the British Humanist Association.

The Group has existed on and off for many years, but more recently we’ve enjoyed an explosion of membership. In only 18 months we have expanded from just a couple of dozen to over 420 members.

We are now the largest and fast-growing independent Humanist group within the United Kingdom *.

We are also one of the longest running Humanist groups in the capital *.

Regular meetings are held at least twice a month. A social on the first Wednesday of the month and a talk or other event on the 3rd Wednesday in the month. Occasional extra events are arranged almost every month, such as film nights, trips to places of interest and other excursions.

Membership

Formal Membership of the group is administered by membership of our Meetup site.

While there is no formal membership subscription that we levy, a voluntary donation is requested at meetings and events.

Where are we going in future?

While we really enjoy our informality, we are planning to get a bit more organised and have clearer rules about membership, who can stand for office, our finances and all the things that proper democratically-run groups should have. So watch this space.

We are also planning to raise our profile generally and to use our membership strength to show to the world at large that we humanists live good lives without religious or superstitious beliefs. So we are now looking for ways to raise money for suitable charities and to campaign for worthwhile causes.

We look forward to meeting you!
